Join NowThe Power of Preliminary Practice
This session is centred around open dialogue and practitioner-led questions, creating space for a wide range of personal reflections. The group explores experiences of resistance to practice, fluctuations in clarity, and fear of regression. Participants speak to the challenge of gauging progress and how expectations can distort one’s relationship to meditation. Questions are raised about whether a perceived lack of clarity indicates a problem or is part of a natural process of integration. The discussion includes honest reflections on discomfort, disconnection, and the effort to re-engage after periods of perceived distance. Geshe Sonam responds with examples and suggestions that point back to presence, openness, and the importance of not over-pathologising natural shifts in experience. This session includes multiple individual questions, with each one illuminating common themes in long-term meditation.
